Nina Chanel Abney’s new installation at the Smart Museum of Art turns the gallery into a playful, oversized lesson in American life, using bold visuals that feel like childhood flash cards. The humor pulls you in, but the work quickly nudges you to sit with the tougher, more complicated realities behind the bright colors.
