Austin drummer Kevin Witt—who studied in NYC with Jimmy Cobb, Cindy Blackman, and Peter Retzlaff—leads B-Side Jazz, a group devoted to the classic hard bop ethos. True to their name, they dig into the second sides of great albums rather than the standard staples. Expect a deep, groove-driven set that rewards attentive listeners.
