Museum of Making Music, 5790 Armada Drive, Carlsbad, CA
Free
Kids twelve and under get in free to the Museum of Making Music all month long when accompanied by a paying adult, thanks to the San Diego Museum Council's Kids Free in October program. The deal covers the museum's hands-on galleries, where little ones can actually pick up and play the instruments on display. It's a low-key, fun way to spend an afternoon exploring the sounds and stories behind music.
