South Coast Repertory’s Pacific Playwrights Festival returns with a lineup of five new works in staged readings: Anika and Britta Johnson’s *Dr. Silver*, Clarence Coo’s *Chapters of a Floating Life*, Bleu Beckford-Burrell’s *Crasiss*, Eleanor Burgess’s *Galilee, 34*, and Noa Gardner’s *A Small Man*. Since 1998, the festival has served as a launchpad for fresh voices in theater, and this year’s slate promises a broad range of stories and styles. It’s a prime chance to catch emerging plays before they find their full productions.
