Cloud Gate Dance Theatre of Taiwan brings its signature fusion of meditation, martial arts, and ballet to Royce Hall for a free hour-long student matinee. Founded by choreographer Lin Hwai-min in 1973 as the first contemporary dance company in the Chinese-speaking world, the troupe draws on classical, folk, and modern traditions to turn ancient aesthetics into a lively, modern celebration of motion. This Design for Sharing performance is open to any LA-area public school, with the Perloff Memorial Bus Fund available to help cover transportation.
