Art-BC presents Traces, a compelling exhibition featuring Dënesųłinë́ artist Catherine Blackburn and Vuntut Gwich'in artist Jeneen Frei Njootli. Their photographic works explore the lingering marks of family histories and cultural knowledge by obscuring subjects through incision and adornment to offer protection. Using beadwork-inspired stitches that surround silhouettes, the artists honor physical memories of what remains unseen while challenging colonial efforts of removal.
