The Jazz Composers Alliance brings its 21-piece JCA Orchestra to the Lilypad, a long-running ensemble founded in 1985 with 12 albums to its name and past collaborations with Sam Rivers, Julius Hemphill, Dave Holland, Maria Schneider, Henry Threadgill, Steve Lacy, and Oliver Lake. The program spotlights fresh works from resident composers David Harris, Darrell Katz, Bob Pilkington, and Mimi Rabson, pulling from a broad sweep of jazz history and global sounds.
