Saha Gnawa is a Brooklyn-based ensemble whose sound merges the spiritual rhythms of Morocco's Gnawa tradition with modern jazz textures and electronic elements. Co-led by Maâlem Hassan Ben Jaafer of Fes and drummer Daniel Freedman, the group grew out of freeform jam sessions in Brooklyn and draws on veterans of the Gnawa ensemble Innov Gnawa.
