Queens of the Stone Age emerged in 1996 as a rock act from the desert town of Palm Desert, California, led by Josh Homme. Born out of the breakup of his earlier band Kyuss, the group built its reputation on riff-heavy hard rock that has since absorbed a wide range of outside influences.
