Pianist Daniil Trifonov takes on Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1 with the San Diego Symphony, while music director Rafael Payare leads the orchestra through Shostakovich’s Tenth Symphony. It’s a pairing of two heavyweight Russian works, with Trifonov’s Grammy-winning pedigree adding extra spark to the program.
