Tenor saxophonist Jerry Bergonzi—whose sound draws from John Coltrane—brings his quartet to The Lilypad for the weekly Monday jazz series, joined by drummer Luther Gray, pianist Plamen Karadonev, bassist Sean Farias, and a special guest on trumpet. Bergonzi, a longtime performer and educator with stints in the Dave Brubeck Quartet and recordings on Blue Note, leads the group through inventive, exploratory sets. Expect a deep, conversational jazz session from a seasoned player and his sharp ensemble.
