West Fest brings together writers like Claire Vaye Watkins, author of *Yellow Pine* and winner of the Story Prize, and Deborah Jackson Taffa, whose memoir *Whiskey Tender* was a National Book Award finalist, alongside Nina McConigley, Claire Boyles, and Lighthouse faculty favorites including William Haywood Henderson, Erika Krouse, Helen Thorpe, and Benjamin Whitmer. The celebration digs into the many sides of Western writing—from ecowriting and how place shapes characters to playing in borderlands—making it a wide-open look at what “the West” means on the page.
